WhatsApp for Business New Features - You Should Know | WhatsApp Changelogs

WhatsApp has just launched its new app for businesses, called as WhatsApp Business. The app is in beta mode right now and only beta testers will be able to download the app from the Google Play Store. However, if you are not a beta tester but still want the app, it’s apk file is also available. So what’s the deal with WhatsApp Business? How does the app differ from its regular version which you are probably using right now? Here’s the list.

Can add a landline number

One of the most interesting additions here is that businesses can add landline numbers in the app. This is over and above the mobile number support. In the regular version, users can only add their mobile contact numbers.

Can set auto-replies

WhatsApp Business also allows users to set auto-replies to texts. They also get the ability to schedule auto-replies for specified hours and days, something that is entirely missing from the regular version.

Another addition to the WhatsApp Business is that it is possible to see the statistics on the number of messages sent and received. This feature is missing from the regular WhatsApp version.

You can also choose the type of business that you are registering. The app includes a decent list of options to choose from. However, if your business doesn’t match any of it, the business can be registered in ‘Others’ category.

Green Tick

WhatsApp will verify business accounts with a green tick. "If you see a green badge next to a contact's name, it means that WhatsApp has verified that the phone number of this contact belongs to a business account," the company said in its blog post.

"We're building and testing new tools via a free WhatsApp Business app for small companies and an enterprise solution for bigger companies operating at a large scale with a global base of customers, like airlines, e-commerce sites, and banks. These businesses will be able to use our solutions to provide customers with useful notifications like flight times, delivery confirmations, and other updates," the post added.

Different Logo

WhatsApp Business logo is different from the regular WhatsApp app. Instead of the telephone icon in the middle, there is a ‘B’ icon for business.
